What would happen if the batter was being intentionally walked and he swung the bat? Would it just be considered a strike and the pitcher would have to throw another one?

An intentional walk is just like any other pitch, the batter can do whatever he wants to do witht he pitch. The smart thing of course is to take the intentional walk pitches, but there are some rare occasions when batters swing at the pitch if they feel it is within their range. If the batter swings and misses or fouls it off it counts as a strike.

If the batter swings at a ball 10-feet over his head it would be a strike. And the pitcher would have to throw another ball.
I know of two main cases where it hurt the team. Willie Mays had three balls and no strikes and reached across the plate and popped up to the first baseman for the third out.
Henry Aaron stepped across the plate and hit a homerun. But because he was out of the batters box, he was called out and he lost that homerun.

Yes. Just because the pitcher throws it WAY out of the zone (like an intentional walk pitch), doesn't mean it's not a strike if the batter swings and misses. If you swing and miss, it's a strike...nuff said.

OUT...

Yeah, it would be considered a strike and the at-bat would go on. Vlad Guerrero once hit an intentional pitch off the wall for a triple in his years with the Expos.

i like the 4 pitches. if your gonna walk a guy you ought to ought to manage it as you're pitching to him. they're attempting to hurry the sport up with the help of making the batter ought to save one foot interior the field so he can walk around ex. Nomar Garciapara. Plus each and every right here and there the pitcher will omit the objective, and with Vlad Guerrero batting he has been generic to hit a intentional ball for a unmarried or right into a area of interest in the event that they throw it too close.
