I am sure it will eventually come to that. And they will always find a way to get around our laws and all the personal resistances. The process has already begun. For example, look at the immigration counters across the Nation. They have been using Hand scanners (Not finger prints) for many years already. The next generation of this process are the EYE scanners. Some places already have these. Before you know it, it will be scanning another part of the body, and before you know it, under the pretense of "medical reasons" they will find a way to implant these little suckers into your body too. It wont be long now. Heck, they are already doing this with animals. A lot of Vet's offer this service for your cats and dogs.
The cost wont be an issue because when you produce on mass levels in places like India and china, it's mere pittance.
People will line up to have these installed. Because they will make your life so difficult that you will just have to get it installed. You won't be able to get a driver's license, buy gas, get medical help, shop, dine out, take a flight, get a job, leave the country, etc, etc, etc.
Bottom line? If you want to exist, you will just have to have it. There are no if's and but's about it. We can try to resist as much as we want to, but eventually we WILL give in. You can not fight city hall, after all.

You are right, this thing is coming down the pipeline....
But it is more submersive than you think...
It will take the form of a IP chip implant that will store all internet informations, as well as your identity, health status and many more. It is quite a big project that another government than the US will implement, and its "positive" effects in the society, should enable its wide acceptation quite easily. This system will be implemented in China, in the next 10 years, and I guess the US and the rest of the world, will follow few years later.
Its gonna be hell on earth...

No, they will not even approve a general ID card.
I would refuse it but do not believe the day the USA will ask it's citizens to have implants. Freedom is always worth protecting & citizens & leaders alike would stand strong to protect that freedom from implants.
Eventually, I believe we may require visitors from other countries to allow us to track them for security. I think even it is more than 60 years away.

Actually I don't see that ever happening. It's a little extreme when there are easier ways of doing things.
This police state stuff is really getting old. It's a scary scenario, yes. But it is so far from ever being reality that it's useless to discuss. There have been no discussions in the government to do anything like that. Think about the pure logistics.....hundreds of millions of these chips would cost an incredibly high amount of money, not to mention the staffs and facilities to put them in. And that's just one reason that it won't be done. Some people spread this crap around to try and undermine the government but it's no more than a movie plot.

Considering the fact that both the right and the left are freaking out about standardizing drivers licenses I think we are a long way from that. The opposition would be tremendous.

It is already in the works. But, I will refuse it. This might mean that I have to give my life for what I believe is right, but I still will not accept what I know to be wrong, *sm*

I would not.
But it could happen--that's clearly the direction and goal of the neocon political platform. But don't kid yourself--it has nothing to do with "national security." It's about dictatorship and tyranny, period.

sadly, I do. With the ridiculous standards of security and ridiculous, unneccessary laws...I can promise you it will happen.
I'd refuse. A state has no right to define my identity by a piece of synthetic crap in my body.
Today passports and legal papers, tomorrow the world...
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
sorry, couldn't resist.

That will be the day I gather my militia and implement my plan to overthrow the government. Anarchy > police state.
