I think the answer should be C or D. But i cannot find any clues in the book "repeal of Henry Clay's Compromise of 1850" in this phase.

The answer is D. All the others contributed to sectional strife over slavery.

The Compromise of 1850 was not repealed. The coalition that was forged in creating the compromise shattered with the Kansas-Nebraska Act, but the compromise was never actually repealed. The K-N Act DID render the Missouri Compromise null and void, however.
