i did not stay here but i went into it when i went to vegas at the begining of this month and it seemed okay, it wasnt as busy as some of the other places.
they have some things that you wont find anywhere else on the strip, like a rollercoaster that goes through the hotel and a nascar simulator that is pretty realistic
i did not check out the whole place but it didnt seem like anything too special
i would suggest looking for online reviews from people who stayed there, sometimes they have these on expedia and other travel websites like it

it is an okay hotel if you are not looking for anything fancy. Vegas hotels are a rip off usually, but the older ones like the Sahara are decently priced. the area is not real good as the "naked city" (what locals call the crack area of town) is only a mile or so away. if you stay on the strip (las vegas blvd) and do not go wandering the side streets you will be fine. just do not go in June - they hold the pimp and ho convention and the porn convention - unless that is what you are into, it will be very busy and full of sleazy old men.

When I was out there, (15 years ago) the Sahara was worn down. Has since been upgraded, I hear.
The porno convention was then in December when the hotels needed the extra revenue.
Lots of tourists in the summer. Be careful about being out in the hot sun for very long. Brutal.

It is a nice place and no one sits in a hotel room all day out here. It is to sleep and shower and then get out and enjoy the city.
