Kilometers is a length measure used now in most countries of the world and in the scientific community. It is equal to 1000 meters. It is easy to convert from one metric measure to the next and therein lies its beauty.
A kilometer, also known as a kilometre, is about 0.63 miles.

One meter is equal to 1000 millimetres. So 0.5 meters is 500 mm and 0.05 is 50 mm which is the same as 5 centimeters BTW. Now if you want a really small linear measure consider a picometer. That is so small you cannot see it!!!

I believe kilometres is used more for measuring longer distances eg length of road etc etc. You cannot possibly say that the length of a long long road is 100000000...cm right haha.

0.05m=50mm (since 1m is 100cm which is in turn equal to 1000mm)

tI have to admit this sounds like the are you smarter than a 5th grader thing..
Kilometers are linear distance.. look up the metric systems to see all of the conversions they are all the same pattern.1 meter = 10 decimeters, or 100 centimeters, or 1000 millimeters so .05m =5 centimeters or 50 millimeters...

Kilometer is used in the same sense as a mile (about .7 miles) and 0.05m is 5mm. Please use Google, or better yet, Wikipedia. :-D.
