I get the same idea with some waitresses calling me honey, etc
not at the same level
but you want to point them in the direction of a clue

It is weird, weirder is when a boss does it too! There is supposed to be an unseen wall up where certain things aren't said or done, and even if it is as little as that, it still feels like the line has been crossed.

If it makes you uncomfortable, then tell your coach taht you would prefer not to be called by those names. I know i call people these names all the time, but i am so accustomed to using them, that i dont realise that im using them most of the time. so if someone told me not to use it, i would become more conscious of it and change what i say to taht person.

I only hate it when someone I don't like or don't know calls me sweetie or honey (like a college cooking instructor I had)...but I didn't mind it when a cute guy said it to me... I took it as a compliment (seeing as he never said it to the other younger girls)

If you feel uncomfortable with it I would think telling the coach you'd rather be called by another name should give them the clue.

You should politely tell the coach to please address you by your name, that you don't like to be called baby ect.. I grew up in the south and am used to that, it doesn't really bother me, they could call me by some other names alot worse lol.

Listen my sweet honey baby, there's times the words just flow off your lips and you can't, won't grab them back because they are real, they say it all, and you want to do nothing but.

I've got other things in life to worry about.-I don't care. (now If my coach or teacher was a guy, I'd get nervous.)

I'm a guy. I've never had that problem. But if it makes you uncomfortable then it's grounds for sexual harassment. Tell your school administrator. Your coach shouldn't be doing that if it makes you feel disrespected.
