Yes, it's quite easy to get around in Sydney.
There are buses and the trains, the ferries as well.
Buy a Sydney pass at any Sightseeing Explorer bus or certain shops (have a look at www.sydneypass.com.au which gives you an idea). With this Sydney pass you'll have a discount for several entrance fees.
If you stay longer get yourself a monthly ticket.

Sydney covers a big area and sometimes you need to change trains/buses etc to get where you are going. If you mean Sydney CBD (Central Business District) then, yes you can get around quite easily. My daughter lives at a Sydney beach and she sold her car and goes everywhere by public transport.

I lived in Sydney for 10 years under no circumstances drove as quickly as, my suitable pal has lived there 30years, no automobile. like all different public transport equipment for a lot of human beings it has that is issues, yet after shifting remote from Sydney i think of that's a good purchase extra advantageous than we've in Brisbane. finding on the place you reside basically purchase a weekly that covers bus and rail then you definately can bounce on and stale until you come across out what is going to suite you extra advantageous. cost, uncertain no longer that lots, possibly you ought to get in touch with Sydney Transit Authority or in spite of they're stated as.

Please remember that the word in Australia is "Transport". "Transportation" was the sentence handed down to many of our early settlers and the word still has that meaning.
Besides that, Sydney has a good public transport system with rail, buses, ferries and a tram line. As long as you are not trying to get from one outer suburb to another, you could use public transport quite comfortably.

No way. On paper the system looks good. Peak hour (6-9am and 4-7pm) the trains are packed, and the main city station(Town Hall) was built for an earlier, more peaceful, less populated time.
The trains are regularly late or cancelled.
If all you need to do is get around the CBD with nothing more than a small bag, it would be ok. If you are in and out and have lots of appointments, forget it.

If you had three or four appointments a day, you could get around by public transport but I think this would prove stressfull after a few days.
You could buy a second hand motor scooter for about $1500aud, I don't think you need a licence for those things and they are as cheap as chips to run.
Good luck.
