Finally, a decent anti-Cena point, and one that I mostly agree with. The fact of the matter is that, at this point, with the way they've pushed him, Cena doesn't need the title. However, for whatever reason, they've given it to him. WWE makes weird decisions like that. He does deserve to be in that upper-midcard/main event region though, if purely for his drawing power. But champion, however? Maybe, maybe not. My best guess is that WWE believes that the title is what is keeping him a draw, and they want to milk as much money that he's capable of, in case Cena makes a Rock-esque jump to the movies. It would be generally interesting to see how popular he is out of the title hunt though.
Cena, however, is more of a draw than at least the Hardyz. DX, I'm not quite sure. Cena is definately a huge draw though, and gets arguably the hugest reaction from the crowd of any superstar currently in the WWE, regardless of cheers or boos, and that's why he's at least at the top of the card. However, I would enjoy to see the list of guys on the roster right now that would make better champions that Cena.

Yeah DX probably made the most money off merchandise then anyone else in the wwe/wwf ever did. That is including the old dx and the new dx. I bet if both HHH and Hbk come back and reform dx once again then wwe will making money by the millions.

You got a good point there.
Cena could be a midcarder like Matt Hardy or somebody and still sell as much stuff. His T-shirts appeal to little kids for some reason.
Hell if they made Edge heel his sex%vilonce T-shirt could of sold way more if Edge was face. It is impressive that Edge's merchandise sold like that with him being a heel.

Well, If Cena werent the champ, would he still sell as much merchandise? I do agree that other wrestlers sell as much, and are just as deserving of the title. But I would think its more who fills the seats every monday tuesday friday saturday and sunday(man thats alot of wrestling!) that make the company the most money. But this is one of the most intelligent questions I think I have ever answered. Impressive.

Cena sells the MOST. More than dx in 06. More than the Hardys now. Hell there are kids that go to TNA shows and wear Cena merchandise.

I believe that Cena will sell merchandise wether or not he is the champion, as long as he has his hard body and boyish face, hell sell stuff, dont worry, and i love cena, and i believe that he is a really good wrestler, but the fact of the matter is, he sells stuff to girls like me, because hes Hott, not just because he can wrestle

So true, he could be the most popular midcarder of all time for all i care, so long as he stops ruining Raw and headling EVERY PPV (too many by the way).
Great points

It doesn't matter if he's champ or not. He'll still sell the same amount of merchandise regardless as long as he's in the WWE, and little boys keep loving him. So agreed.
