What else could you describe in your life as 'yo-yo-ing' ?

I think this is a really good question. I think about it and I realize that almost everything in the average person's life is yo-yo-ed and jerked around. Although some things can be called "stable" (such as a job or family,) those things can easily be shredded in two by a mere coincidence (natural disaster, temptation, layoffs, ect.) Not to mention, people's morals and spirituality often ebb and flow with the time, as it becomes "in style" or trendy to attend a certain church or believe a certain way. Look at teenagers. Those who are most trying to assume their identity shift from one idea or group to the other to ascertain what's right and what fits in or stands out the most.

Then again, the yo-yo-ing may not be such a bad thing. Though it has many potentially harmful consequences, it's the only way we can truely see where loyalties lie and what is the best position for one to be in. As in the diet example, your final weight generally isn't going to be the most low, and probably not the highest either. It's going to be in the middle, where you're body has finally found it's comfort zone. Identity is like that too in that our ideas and beliefs must fluctuate in order to assume the final product.

Sorry if this was a lot of rambling...I guess the question was really provoking!

Losing weight can be simple, and somewhat easy. 1) exercise, go to the gym and get on the cardio machines like a treadmill or an elliptical. You should try your hardest to find a machine that tells you how many calories you've burnt, that way you can keep track and it can help you watch what you eat. Sometimes gym memberships can be expensive, so run around your neighborhood or street! Start off with a fast walk, and then increase to a jog, the more active you are the more the fat will leave. 2) Eat well, some calories that you eat are naturally burnt off by your body, so just because you don't burn it all off doesn't mean you've gained all the fat and calories. I know it's hard, and it's tempting to indulge- and you can! Just don't put any cookies or chips in the house, keep them out and you won't eat them. If you're living with someone else then get them on board, tell them that it'll make you happier, healthy, and you'll live longer! Fruits, vegetables, and meats (nothing deep fried). And you can have a cookie every once in a while from your favorite shop, but just make sure it's not every day. 3) This is probably the most important rule of all! Don't eat just 3 meals a day. Teenagers and adults should eat 5-6 meals a day (in a smaller size). This keeps your metabolism moving, a fast metabolism is what keeps people skinny. That's why you see really skinny girls that can eat a lot, because they have a fast metabolism. Sometimes it's genetic, and for the people it's not genetic for, it can be a struggle. Just eat often, maybe carrots or fruit every 2 hours to keep your metabolism moving- it works. Plus caffeine and spicy food keep it moving as well. Hope everything worked out, tell me how it goes!

My emotions sometimes yo-yo. Depending on what life has to offer me. Sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down. You could also refer to my life as a roller coaster ride. But then I always think, it could be worse. Then I am a happy camper again; no sense getting myself into a snit over pain.

my outlook on life being very optimistic and pessimistic. ---or---
opinions on relig. being that sometimes i think the whole spirituality and holiness is a bunch of 'junk', and OBVIOUSLY this whole universe depends on the laws of science.... or to: of course there has to be some greater life force, how can this world possibly be so perfect, and how can death jsu tbe the absolute end? lie you have no feelings and whatnot.

Acknowledge that you don't want to lose weight and the yo-yo stops.

I tend not to go back and forth.

Our spiritual lives. We are light with a fire for Christ and it dies down.
