me and my friend are going to Chernobyl this September to take some pics for a game i am making, we are thinking of "sneaking" or avoiding the checkpoints, we are only interested in Prypiat and will be taking geiger counters with us

we are aware of the radiation/wild animals and crumbling sarcophagus,

We are concerned about actually getting in/out and if cough what would happen, how gaurded is it, what is the law?

cheerz in advance

ok, I've heard of people "stealing" stuff from there, it is a big place. didn't think they'd shoot someone just for being there. wouldn't it cause a ruckus between the countries as I'm from Britain???

Instead of treating this as a childish adventure I think you should 'Grow Up'.
The people of that area suffered, and are still suffering from the effects of radiation. That is why charities exist in this country(U.K.) to bring Chernobyl children here for some 'clean air', which apparently does them an enormous amount of good.
As for taking Geiger counters with you, Why? Do you think they will protect you from radiation? What are you going to do if you get a high reading? Run?
Next, do you really think you can just wander at will, without being challenged at some point? Have you any idea of just how big an area is affected by the radiation?, and do you really think that the British Government would dash to your rescue if (or more likely when) you are arrested.
Sorry lads, but a reality check definitely seems to be the order of the day. Wake up!

firstly, youve posted in the wrong section as Chernobyl is in Ukraine and not Russia, but that is generalisation that many people make.

I do not think it would be wise to try and avoid the checkpoints, a far easier approach would be to go up to the checkpoints and if you offer the guards a few packets of cigarettes or $20 theyll probably let you in anyway, just tell them about the game you want to make. If you are nice to them you may even get guided tour!

If you do sneak in and get caught, expect a rough time and possibly a prison sentence. You are mistaken in thinking that they wont shoot at you. You are also mistaken in thinking that it would cause international tension, governments expect their citizens to comply with local laws when they are abroad and any punishments meted out for such non-compliance usually receives tacit approval.

Be wary of the Ukraine KGB!

Have a good trip

I really don't think that it is such a great idea to "sneak around" Chernobyl. Rest assured, you will get caught, and if you are lucky, they will just shoot you in the head. If you aren't so lucky, you will be taken in to be "questioned", and spend the rest of your lives being tortured.

Have you maybe tried getting permission to visit the site? You might even be able to get a tour guide to take you there. But you do not want to get all that close, because radiation levels are still dangerously high. You definately should not walk around on the grounds there, and DO NOT drink the local water.

Sure, no one will give a crap about you. The police will try to stop you, but once they see that you're certifiably insane, they'll decide to let "survival of the fittest" do its thing.
You "will be taking geiger counters" - and you think that will protect you from the radiation? "ooh, it's clicking, that means we're safe." Do you want to win a Darwin award or something?
Oh, and your game idea isn't new, it's been done already.

Chornobyl and Prypiat are not in Russia. You will not be able to visit them with Russian visa. Russian laws do not apply there as well.

I think you are best to do it legally. Remember, Russia is not the U.K, the police and military carry big guns around and they WILL use them. If you don't want holes put in you, go through the proper channels.
