I think you should get a dwarf they are cool and they live in groups. Also theres a gold zebra loach that gets 2.5in.Collie loaches stay small about 4.7in.Don'i get a clown loach they get to big.Or a skunk loach they get about 4in.Good Luck!

Kuhli loaches hands down. I've got 3 of them in my 10 gallon tank with 5 black neons and a betta. The trick with kuhli loaches is to provide them with plenty of places to hide. By doing this they feel more comfortable because they know there's somewhere to run if need be. My 10 gallon tank is in my living room and just about every time I look over at it there is a kuhli swimming all over the place. They're more active at night but you can teach them to come up during the day if thats when you feed them.
Don't get cories for a 10 gallon either, you need 6 of those guys to keep them happy and by the time you throw 6 cories in a 10 gallon you're basically out of space.

The skunk loach can get to about 4", but 3" is far more typical, so it could handle being in a 10 gallon tank. The zebra loach also falls in this group.
But as mentioned before the dwarf loach or dwarf chain loach is probably the best bet.

Yo-yo Loaches are amazing fish! They are like little Clown Loaches, they play and swim and clean all day. They will generally max out at 4 inches, so you could keep a pair of Yo-yos and some other fish. If you like eels, you might like a few Kuhli Loaches. Though they are not eels, their long body with fins at the front near the head and very back, make it look very similar. The Yo-yos will be more active than the Kuhlis.

most loaces get very large, but a dwarf loach is one of the very vew that stay small, i believ they only get to about an inch and a half, also the kuhli loaches stay fairly small. if you are looking fo a bottom feeder for your 10 gallon, cory cats are always the best way to go, as the don't get very large

I've got a 10 gal tank and I put 4 kuhli loaches in there. As mentioned, provide lotsa place to hide as these fish are pretty shy. They're among the funnest fish to watch.
