I have a very nice TV, but have not watched it in over two years. When I tell this to people they think I'm nut's. Are there other people who don't watch TV???

FYI: I prefer music, cooking and literature...

Okay, thanks to everybody. I suppose the final vote is - yes I am nuts - but respected for it. Yes?
Sorry, but I can't give my TV away. It was a gift from my folks, because they thought that I should watch TV! Oh and.. I am spending a little more time here on the computer these days, because I really like you all in Yahoo Q&A's.
One more thing, I am not sheltered from what's going on, I read the newspaper every day, and, lot's of magazines. t

NO. I think there are hundreds of millions of other peoples as well, especially in Africa and rural areas of Asia. They never watch TV becuase they don't have one.

Well, perhaps a serious answer is "almost YES". TV has become a must in our lives. Though I myself have tried to cut the TV time to minimum, but I don't think I'll ever reach the state of NEVER. So I really apprecaite you, if you have achieved the NEVER state.
My experience is, if one cuts down the TV time, one has plenty of quality time for other more useful and enjoyable things, including time with family, friends, reading (which I enjoy the most) and exploring. I skip TV programmes and max proportion of time that I spent in front of tube is for a carefully selected movie played on DVD.
I wish we all are able to avoid victimisation by or addiction to TV broadcasts.

Unfortunately, you probably are the only one that does not watch TV. It is a great vehicle for knowing what is going on in the world. You don't have to watch soap operas, but some news is important especially during election times.

If you truly don't watch TV, then why do you have a "very nice" one?

You are NOT alone. It's been so long that I can't even remember how many years since I've watched TV. Books are so much more engaging, and I hate that feeling you get after sitting in front of the TV for several hours, all lethargic and crummy and drained. I'd rather take a walk in the woods or create something.

I am a member of the "Those who do not watch TV Club". I gave up, TV and Newspapers, on two counts. The TV news is slanted to the particular political agenda which management sets up; and two, I do not believe reporters. For the most part, they are not real reporters who report the news, they are sensationalists who are looking to score a "big" story. I have not watched in a very long time, and I cancelled my newspapers. Strange, it hasn't bothered me in the least.

I watch a lot of kids shows because my kids monopolize the tv, but I very rarely know what is going on in the world until someone else calls me and says, "hey did you see that on tv?" and I'm like "No, what?" and they tell me. Then I watch it. I spend too much time taking care of kids and cleaning house to watch tv. Once in a blue moon, I'll treat myself to a movie rental. The news is depressing anyway, so I don't miss that.

I do not watch it either. I find the commercials insult my intelligence. I haven't sat down and watched a television program in about a year and a half. The last ones I saw were pathetic and also insulting. I do however enjoy a good movie. A good book is also very appreciated. There is way more to do in this world than set in front of a box and let someone else tell you what to think.

Way to go, I wish I was that disciplined, but I only watch the boob tube at night , to catch the news, and a few good shows, and I mean only a few. TV, is all commercials, violence, and more violence. The guy that invented the TV, should have imposed rules, as to what was going to be shown on it, and violence would be against the rules. Love music, especially Hawaiian or smooth jazz, although , sometimes rock..... or country, love it all.
