I had the same problem with a neighbor's small dog. They taught it to go in our yard. I started shooting it with a BB gun (low power daisey) because the people would ignore our requests to keep their dog in their yard. Shooting it worked, then it wouldn't go in our yard anymore. They started having their kid bring the dog into our yard again, so I shot the kid in the rear....twice! End of problem.
No offense anyone. It was a last resort.

get a pellet gun, only pump it to the minimum to start, if it keeps coming back pump it up to the max, it'll learn. Or just tape a rifle target to it and send it home, maybe the owner will get a clue and be responsible for their pet

motion sensor sprinkklers.
Use google and you'll find them. Generally intended to scare away birds, but the motion sensor can turn on a sprinkler that will DRENCH the dog.
