Also what is gay pride or pink pride you never tell us. You are making me very annoyed at our cousins over there.

You know I have to agree with you. I try very hard to make sure my spelling and grammar is correct. But there are terms that just simply do not cross the pond. I think the best way to read and understand some of the words would be to look them up in the Websters Online Dictionary. There is also a Dictionary of American Slang online.

As for Gay & Pink Pride see the referenced sites below.

I'm an American and agree that English is often butchered here, but I also lived overseas for almost ten years in Japan, Spain, and Mexico and have heard as much bad British English as American, so you're being a hypocrite at best. Each country has its educated and uneducated and your question is so filled with spelling and grammatical errors that you come off as an idiot. Ever hear of capitaling the first word in a sentence, for example? How about usinfg commas where appropriate?

Using American terms where they differ from British English terms doe not make them incorrect, either. An elevator is just as correct as a lift and I respect other dialects and languages to show respect for people in general. The U.S. population is about 5.5 times that of the U.K so that's why more Americans post here, or do you not understand basic statistics, either?

Most of us Americans respect British English so why can't you show some class and do the same, especially when your English is among the worst on this topic?

I find it odd that you say only Americans leave words out of their text, in all my time on the Internet I have discovered that miss placed words are not just the providence of Americans. I find it interesting that you think "Gay Pride" a word that has appeared in many international papers is an American Word.

I would infer that there may be an American Bias here due to a larger then average number of American Posters, though I am also inclined to surmise that you are adding a greater bias then there is since you attacked "Gay Pride" and "Pink Pride" which are both terms that appear internationally.

Luckily, it's not "all" Americans, some of us respect the English language and proper sentence structure.

But then, you have to understand, how we spell things on this side of the pond is slightly different, but still accepted, and what we were taught.

From the internet:

"The gay pride or simply pride campaign of the gay rights movement has three main premises: that people should be proud of what they are, that sexual diversity is a gift, and that sexual orientation and gender identity are inherent and cannot be intentionally altered. Marches celebrating Pride (pride parades) are celebrated worldwide. Symbols of gay pride include the rainbow flag and also of the pink and black triangles reclaimed from their past use. "

My deepest apologies for our butchering of a fine language.

We don't all do this. We don't think this page is 'just for us'. Our grasp is terrible. Hmm...you seem to be in a lousy mood today.

Just so you know, some Americans can't identify English phrases like 'telly' (several think you are talking about a telephone instead of television), bobby, etc.

Gay pride is generally a festival of some sort in which LGBT and supporters celebrate/continue their quest to gain full rights. Generally, there is a parade.

Sorry to sound rude, but you seem to be ranting about things that all people are guilty of at times. his is a shared website, for all those who speak English. There are many different dialects, as well. Are you mad at the Australians, too?

I had to read your question a few times to completely understand it. Lol. I know our english is bad but i could care less. And I'm not sure where you got the impression that we thought this page was just for us. If you English can't translate or understand it maybe its you that doesn't understand the engish language. I'd like an example of what your talking about.

Why do you English over generalize and stereotype?

Hey, we get just as upset with the poor spelling and lack of grammar as you do.
Heck, half the time I can't even understand what they're saying and I'm American.

Pink Pride is simply another term for Gay Pride. Gay Pride is a celebration of being honest about who you are as a person, it's a celebration and remembrance of those brave GLBT's who came before us, fought the good fight and helped us win the small battles. It's also a remembrance of those who died simply for who they were.

As far as your being annoyed, well that's really your problem. ONLY you are in control of your emotions.

You know. It's quite selfish of you English when you expect everyone else to know what a lift is, a lorry, a banger, a loo, a flat, a torch, a biscuit, or an off-license...are...but when we say : elevator, truck, sausage, bathroom, apartment, flashlight, cookie, liquer store...you get offended.

No matter what English dialect we use, somebody's not going to be happy, so we use the one we're familiar with. Also, only SOME Americans have bad grammar. It's mostly kids too. The grown ups with a little more thinking power upstairs know how to type coherently. I'm sure British youth have perverted the tongue over the years. Remember before you start stereotyping and going on ethnocentric rants that we kicked your limey ***es before and we can do it again!
