I am a complete Leftie, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! I don't know if we are smarter, but we do tend to be more creative.

The number of people in the general population who are left handed is perhaps larger than you may think. Estimates range between 10% to 15%.

This tendency shows up early in child development, often at six to seven years of age.

Regarding who is "smarter" is a different issue. This depends on how you define "smart." Some would test for I.Q., others for "street smartness" and still others for eventual station in life - i.e. - how far one has advanced with his / her career.

My personal experience has been to bet on the "lefties." Their brains are often wired for managerial positions, which requires a fair degree of intelligence.

I am somewhat ambidextrous as a drummer...I was born with a right hand tendency, however I have learned skills using the left as well.....What is really difficult is playing 4 different rhythms using 2 feet and 2 hands and singing a 5th rhythm
