Is it true that if I did poorly in my high school years and got accepted to a not so prestigious University that I can still make it into a top University for an MBA (Masters degree) if I work my butt off and get good grades while working for my bachelors at the not so prestigious University? Any sources?

you can still get your MBA. you will have to do well on your GMAT test, but thats about it. And when you apply to grad school they normally request your ACT/SAT score, so you might want to do good on them.

This is a tough question because so many factors are considered. Your grades and institution are important, but your course load, awards (dean's list, etc), test scores, community service, work experience, internships, etc. are ALL important. So, theoretically if you did well not only in your grades, but all of the other important areas, you would have a great chance of going to your choice of schools. Your college record is infinitely more important than your high school work - the admissions committee will see that you got motivated and turned things around and it will actually reflect well upon you. But by no means does going to a not-so-prestigious school bar you from attending a good one later. Hope this helps!! Edit: This is a blanket answer for almost any college/major. Obviously your specific program will hold certain things to be more important than others - this varies by college and program.

Hey....why not go one better: get the MBA at a not so prestigious university. Snag the stratospheric high GPA and type this on ALL your resumes.

"Hello, my name is ............! I'm a MBA superstar--the pages before you are hard copy evidence of this. I'm living proof prestigious university MBA grads outright wasted their $$$ to get that fancy college name on their degree.

Business bottom line: Low overhead, high profit earnings. I well can accomplish BOTH for this company....and I guarantee my aced success. You want the sure fire winner--well, here I am."

Yes, you can do this if you work hard in while getting your undergrad degree. I don't have any specific sources, but I work at a college and know this to be true.
Also, after a year or two at your current college, you could try to transfer into a more presitgious school if your grades are good.
