one of the fake coral decorations i bought at wal mart today is sticky. not like something spilled on it, but just sticky. i rinsed it well with hot tapp water and its still sticky. should i put it in my saltwater tank or will it be bad for my fish?

I wouldn't risk it. Personally I would return it tomorrow for a replacement.

I wouldn't put any gawdy man made tank ornaments in the tank. Anything painted or sticky can be toxic. Opt for a more natural look with pea gravel and river rocks. Those things are dangerous.

I think that their are specially made things for salt water tanks i wouldnt buy anything for an expensive fish at walmart. You gatta go to a pet store like PetCo or PetSmart. You've paid alot of money for those fish why throw it down the toliet because thats what you end up doing. I never buy anything fish realted at walmart they have no idea what they are doing people at pet store do thats their jobs.

Hard to say unless you know exactly what is causing it to be sticky. When in doubt, throw it out. Not worth the risk of killing your tank.

I agree. Why take a risk with your fish? Return the coral.
Sticky coral sounds fishy (sorry for that.)
