I was two months pregnant with my first child before I found out, and I even had a negative urine test at 2 months pregnant... only a blood test showed I was. Turns out some people can have such low levels of the pregnancy hormone carried into their urine that it won't show sometimes for up to 6 months... sometimes the best way to know is a blood test. and I don't know why it happens I just know it can and does.

Pregnancy tests use a hormone amount to decide if you are pregnant. Your body may not have produced enough to show up on a traditional PG test. It could also be a problem with the test. Best thing to do if you think that you are pregnant is to go get a blood test. I had a urine PG test that kept saying negative for weeks, but I just KNEW I was. I went to my DR, took a blood test and I was positive, almost 10 weeks.
Good Luck

I showed negative the first time, but then showed positive at closer to 5 weeks (sorry, not 6 weeks). Sometimes it just takes a while for your body to get all those hormones going in amounts that are measureable. Plus, even though hpt's are good, they are not always accurate.
It is also possible that a person is not as far along as they think. It can be hard to find the exact dates of everything.

This happens because at 4 weeks the pregnancy hormone is pretty low, sometimes a test will work, as the pregnancy continues the hormone becomes higher and higher, therefore showing more postives on a test at 6 weeks.

It's simply because there wasn't enough of the hcg hormone in your system yet. All of my pregnancy tests, both home and blood, came back negative until I was 7 weeks. It's pretty common for it to take a little while to come back positive.

Because that extra 2 weeks gives the beta hcg (pregnancy levels) a chance to rise. Hence the negative to positive result. I did home tests a few days before my period was even due with all my pregnancies and they were all positive. Good Luck!

that sounds late, but something similar happened to me. i ovulated late in my cycle, so while it would have seemed that I was 4 weeks pregnant at the point I missed my period, I was actually only 2 weeks prego. anyway, essentially, like you, at 4 weeks I was a negative and at 6 was positive. i ended up having twins - which also explains the weird hormone levels.

Mine showed negative until 7 weeks!!! It just means your HCG levels (the pregnancy hormone) is weaker in your system, meaning you could still ahve some birthcontrol deluting it, or just a deluted HCG level, it's not that uncommon, CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!!!

the pregnancy test work by detecting the amount of pregnancy hormaone in your urine. somethimes it can be very low in early pregnancy and hard to detect, nothing to worry about a girlfriend of mine always had a low level of hormone and never showed up on a urine test even in her last trimester.

Your hormone problems were not high enough to register until 6 weeks.
