That place sucks. It's so dirty, and it has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the modern world. Because of so many health care services, people just waste their lives and why shouldn't they? If you work like 65% of your money goes to taxes.

Liberals do not necessarily want to be like the U.K. in every aspect. Most other developed countries in the world have universal health care. Its not a free handout as most people think. Most of us pay up to a third of our income towards healthcare anyway, but since the care is private there is a large amount of money made by the people who supply the care (i.e. HMO's). Many of the people in this country often have to use emergency services to obtain any sort of care. Emergency services for normal checkups and procedures costs this country billions of dollars each year.

Preventative medicine is the way to go, and if universal healthcare is offered, then the general population would require less of the more expensive procedures to correct easily preventable diseases and other issues.

Paying healthcare through the government would result in a better system, happier doctors who don't have to fight the HMO's over costs and patients, and a better product.

Most poor people in this country already get free healthcare, so it's hard to understand the arguments of many people.

And it is also hard to imagine how Europe is worse off than America. Last time I checked, the US dollar is worth a good amount less than the Euro. Go figure...

Well maybe because there are things that are better about the United Kingdom. For example: lower crime rates (US has the highest in the world), lower poverty rates, and lower suicide rates. Oh and P.S. their taxable income rate is 29.7% which is lower than our 30%.

Libs love any place with socialized medicine. It doesn't matter if the health care sux, but its free, well, paid for with incredible amounts of tax money, but free to the lazy worthless unproductive segment of society which is so all important to the Democrats because they vote for Democrats.

This liberal has no idea of what's going on in the UK, why would I want to emulate them? I'm not even sure of what the hell is going on in this country.

Beats the h**l out of me. I seem to recall us fighting a war some time around the late 1700's to get away from those folks and be on our own not having to put up with their system of government and taxes.
Maybe it is nostalgia for the (not so good) good ole days.

That is the liberal dream. More people under the control of the government because of the need for entitlement programs. If the libs ever wise up they will trade the UK plan for the French plan. France is even more of a disaster than the UK.

Yeah, because a Obama/Hilary/Edwards mutation was walking holding hands together with Blair and not Bush.

4. Since when have liberals said they want to emulate the UK?

er... your opinion is as incorrect as your statistics...

U.S. is 58th WORST in the world

UK is in the 80s over two times better than the U.S. with teen preg. rates? (worst being No. 1)

But to your point... I don't want to so much "emulate the UK" as I want to "emulate what works in the world"...
