It is better to live in a dorm, studies show that students are more likely to stay in school if they live on campus, and have better grades, since you've always got people around to ask for help. Try finding a part-time job on campus, in the library or somewhere. They pay decently well and you only work a few hours at a time. You won't need a car to get there either. You should definitely live on campus though.

LIVE IN THE DORM!
I went to a university where we couldnt have cars either our freshman year. I though I would die without my car. You can get a good job on campus that you can walk to. If you end up living in the dorm they probably have a front desk you could work at or you could try working at another campus facility. Don't miss out on experiencing dorm life and meeting some awesome people.

Definitely dorm!
I just finished my freshman year in college and I live about a half hour away from my school (far enough to be independent, but close enough to come home for dinner on a Sunday or for the weekend).
I met so many more people than I would have if I just commuted. The commuters that I did know from class didn't have that many friends because they only had the people they knew from class, and they couldn't go to too many clubs and events because they are usually at night when they are home.
We can't have cars on campus either as freshman but public transportation was good enough for us when we wanted to get somewhere, but town was really close by so we can just walk sometimes.
And if you live on campus, you don't have to waste time in the car driving in traffic when you could be studying or hanging out with friends or even working.b
Try looking for a job on campus, they are usually flexible so they work around your class schedule and they're not too stressful.

The college "experience" tells you to live in the dorms, and I whole-heartedly agree. You grow academically, socially, and you meet great people in the dorms. Almost anyone would tell you that living in the dorms changes them for the better. In terms of a job, you would want to do work-study which is usually on campus anyway, therefore eliminating the need for a car. Work-study pays higher, and is not taxed, so it is much better than any other part-time job you could have.

Definitely choose the dorm (if you can afford it), because there are often jobs on campus. Your freshman year should be studying, making new friends, and partying! A job would definitely be nice but a job on campus will usually allow you to work around your studies and be more understanding to college life. Also colleges will often make exceptions if students show them they have a job they need their car for, so it doesn't hurt to ask! I know people who have skipped out on freshman dorms and have regretted it later! Have fun and good luck!

I would say living at home. I lived on campus for a year and a half and I hated it. I couldn't wait to get off campus. You have a small room and have to share the bathroom with slobs. It would especially suck if you can not have a car to come and go, I would find that as a major draw back even if you did want to experience dorms for yourself.

Dormitories benefits more than when you stay at home.Staying at home is like " Home Alone" where in the Dorms- you learn about self reliance. You can't depends on someone for your routine life.Unless you have a academic problem-the help is very close to you.Well staying at Dorm have to be care full with full alert. Some times you might have experience about Gay-Lesbian Life also.

Go to the dorm with no car. It is a fun experience, and you can probably get a job on your campus.

I would live in the dorm. I did for 2 years and I LOVED it. It's worth it. There are jobs available on campus, and if all else fails, there's the bus or a bike.
