Just went to the doc today, and I am 1 cm dilated and very soft. I am 40 weeks this coming monday also. She said that I can have the baby at any time now. I just went to the washroom and there was a little brown blood. Could this mean things are starting?? I am not having any contractions yet though.

I thinks things probably have already been starting for awhile now. They say prelabor can start 2 weeks before birth.

Best Wishes during and after Labor!!!

The spotting is most likely a result of the examination - stretching of your cervix during assessment of dilation. Labor is defined as regular uterine contractions accompanied by cervical change. So, no, you're not in labor.

Rest assured, you WILL have your baby by 42 weeks as that is standard of care in most states. So enjoy your last few weeks of your pregnancy and congratulations on becoming a mom!

I think your best bet is to ring your local doctor, they will know best. I am 4 days away from my due date with my first baby, and have been in a great deal of pain for about a week. The doctor said I am not in labour. And also, only 15% of woman's water break, so really don't count on that for you to think your about to go into labour. Good luck and hope all goes well

it depends. i'm currently 39 weeks myself, and i lost my mucus plug and had my bloody show 2 weeks ago. i have been 2cm dilated and the baby is engaed and ready.
The only problem is that my contractions have not started (same situation as you) and i am STILL waiting for the baby.

So dont get too over excited because it could be a week or two until you deliver, especially since you have no productive contractions right now.

Good luck and congrats!! [crosses fingers for you]

The brown blood is more than likely your mucous plug coming out. After that happens it is very soon, like within 8-24 hours or so , as I can remember. You are very close to having your baby! Congratulations!

It could mean that...but if she did an internal exam today, you may just be having spotting from that. Good luck!

It sounds like you lost your mucus plug!!! It should be ANY time now.....with a good possibility that you could go into full blown labor TONIGHT!! Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
