...does anybody know how I can take one full song that I want to use as a ringtone on my phone (razr v3i) and cut it down so that only a part of the song plays instead of the whole thing?
any help is appreciated...thanks!

use any sound editor to cut the time down. I think the Razr is 18 seconds? maybe 20. If you go over that, it just won't ring at all.

You open the sound editor (you can do it in Windows) and you highlight from where you'd like to start to where you want to end. THen open a new file and paste it in.

Or, you can mark where to start, highlight everything before it and cut that out. Mark where to stop, highlight everything after that and cut. You're left with what you want.

Tadaaaaa!!!

www.phonezoo.com. you have to have the song downloaded on your computer and it lets you then download 20 second clips of your choice to your phone. It's awesome. Email me if you have any questions.

phonezoo is free. You'll have to create an account, give information about your phone, that kind of stuff, but it's a one time thing. Go to the create ringtone tab across the top and it will walk you through. If your files are not mp3's, you may have to download free conversion software. It sounds like a lot more work than it is. It's fun (and kind of addictive), too!!

I got two options that will work:

1 (and it's highly recommended) Go to www.suggestafix.com
Free to join. Free to ask questions. Get free results. Better than Geek Squad. And you'll get a good answer from people who know this stuff.

2. Bluetooth the song to another RAZR v3. Cut off 'recording' the very second (on the RECEIVING phone) you want the song to end. Choose "yes" or whatever indicates you want to save what has been sent.

Ok...playback the newly recorded piece. If it's to your liking, DELETE the old file from SENDERS phone. Next, Bluetooth back the song from the RECEIVING phone to the SENDERs. phone.
