just wondering if someone has an idea for a new product how do you submit it? is it an easy process? does it have to be a well laid out idea explaining exactly how it might work or just an idea?

can you guys be more specific..? ok let's say somebody has an idea to put a device in a car that will set an alarm to go off when someone attempts to break in (i know it already exists! i'm just saying..) and he doesn't know how it can be done but someone with the knowledge and the engineering can do it can't you just sell the idea and have them take it from there?

Submit to where? Get a patent? Submit it to a company to see if they're interested in buying it?

To get a patent, you have to have a working model of your invention - you can't patent an idea, even a well laid out one.

if you think you can make a whole lot of money off the invention, you would want to get a patent on it so nobody else steals your idea, but patents are not cheap, they can cost thousands of dollars, you could sell you idea to a related company, or if you can make it yourself you could sell it online or in your local area to start out.
