if you bought a shirt at hollister and then a week later you sae the same exact shirt at old navy for less than half the price.

i got this tank top at hollister for $25, it has skinny white and yellow stripes, a kinda low V neckline and in the back the straps make an X shape (i think thats called a racerback) and all these other details that i dont feel like explaining.
i saw the same EXACT top at old navy and it was $12, the only difference is that it didnt have the little hollister seagull at the bottem. im not really mad that i didnt get it at old navy, im mad that old navy copied hollister. are they allowed to do that?

No worries, it's totally understandable to return it--there's no law saying that once you buy it that you're stuck with it.

When they ask you the reason, tell them that you saw the same thing elsewhere. If they do not want to return it (an value you as their customer), they might work with you in getting a price adjustment. If not, then get the money back and buy it from Old Navy.

BTW, I know that they are going to tell you "its not identical" because of the seagul logo. I have to agree with you that it is kinda sneaky that Old Navy is copying Hollister's style and thus trying hard to get their customers to. Isn't competition great??!!!!! Gotta love theri tricks!!!!

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you. Its nothing to be mad about at all. Life's too short to cry over the inconsequential expecally when stores piss you off. It does happen often!!!!

its not really copying..its just a style of shirt. any store can make it/ have it in stock (as long as its not some other store's name brand i.e. old navy having hollister)
think of it this way..say hollister came out with the plain tank top..that doesnt mean that all other stores cant sell tank tops.

so its the same style, but not the same exact product...
hopefully you get what im trying to say.. its kinda hard to explain but no its not copying (the style itself isnt copyrighted so others cant use it, the hollister seagull is the copyrighted symbol that other stores cant have...)

hope it helped =)

Babe why do you even SHOP at Hollister?? I go to Hot Topic.. prices are about the same but at least I'm paying for Fall Out Boy to be on my shirt and not a stupid seagull....
I agree: return the friggin shirt, and go buy the one from Old Navy!!
But babe if I were you I'd be pissed.

Yes, I would return it and get the one from Old Navy. Who cares about a stupid seagull label?

How do you know Hollister didn't copy Old Navy?

No need to be mad. Neither store made you shop with them. It was your choice to shop at Hollister's. I have found that sometimes the clothes may look exactly alike, but they are not the same quality! Enjoy your purchase and next time shop around before you actually make your purchase. Stores will usually hold a garment for you for a few hours. Now quit stewing and enjoy that new shirt!

they can't copy a striped razor back tank. It's way too basic. From now on just don't buy things from hollister reg. price. and especially don't buy their tanks, they are a waste of money because there is nothing special about them.
