i just won three goldfish at the fair but im leaving tomorrow for the whole weekend.. i have dog food.. is there anything else i can give them? also, will they be okay over the weekend? help meee!

i have them in a glass cylinder thats not that big... i really can't go out and buy anything!
my dad says that one of my fish is going to die because he is black around the edges and that means they are rotting? should i seperate him from the other fish?

They will be fine without food until you return home. Also the black tail is fin rot that happens when the water is dirty. Do frequent water changes. Each goldfish should have at least 15-20 gallons of water . They produce alot of waste and waste turns into ammonia which will poison them.

Don't feed them dog food please. Just don't feed them anything until you get home and get some goldfish food. They will be fine. Fish are coldblooded and can go much longer than a few days with out food. You don't want any uneaten food rotting in the tank while you are gone. That's much more dangerous than not feeding.
Hope the fish are not in a bowl, they will suffer in there until they die, which won't take long. They need a tank, and for three common goldfish you will need at least a 30 gallon tank. Buy a goldfish guide or take them to a local pet store before you kill them. Goldfish require a lot of special care. I so hate when they just give them away at these fairs to people who have no clue how to keep them. Its very cruel.

have your nehibor watch them they will die without food just go to the pet shop and get the little goldfish food and ask if they could feed it 2 times or 1 time each day on the weekend

You can feed them break but very little because of course in water it will sponge up. Crackers, Anything of that matter. Just not too much.

Get small bread pieces and roll them up. Put them in the tank and they will all eat it. They'll be fine over the weekend. I've left fish alone for three days and they were fine when I got back.

Ditto to Sunday P... they will be fine without food over the weekend. They can a week without food and without harm from it.
