Is there any cultural pressure for Hispanic teens to get married and/or have children at a younger age than other cultures? I'm asking this because it seems that hispanics reproduce at a slightly more accelerated rate than other cultures. I'm not asking this out of ignorance or to sound like a racist or to offend anyone; and I'm sorry if I have. I just wanted to get an honest answer, and again i dont mean to offend anyone out there.

I am Latina and I am not offended matter of fact I am glad you asked to find the real reason why we pop them babies out early. As a little girl, (since age 5) I was tought how to wash dishes, cook, and pretty much be the perfect wife. Once I became a teenager I had boyfriends and what not and it seemed like every boyfriend I have had has fallen deeply in love with me just because I know how to be a perfect wife and raise kids (because I had experience w/ siblings) and men are turned on by that and they want to take you off the market asap. Also, hispanics aren't really in agreement with abortions/divorce. There are alot of white woman who get several abortions so they won't have kids so its more evident that hispanics are the ones that are always having babies. I am 20yrs old w/ 2 kids...

im not offended, but i just want to let you know that hispanics are not the only ones that does early marriage that/and causes population explosion(so to speak).

poverty and ignorance often are the root cause of these not the social or cultural issues.

going back o the early days, it is true that there has been pressure on marrying at an early age and producing children that will be the legacy of the family. this matter is more rampant on "Buena familya," families that are rich or with distinction.

this is rarely in today's family issues. social awareness and responsibility are more of what hinders early marriage and over reproduction these days.

I think it is probably because of Catholicism. In the old days more so than now. Now it seems it is more out of being used too and enjoying a large family.

Edit: Latin Power, Si es virdad. Yes that's true : )

my husband who is spanish says it is because of lack of education and they are not follwing their family cultures. I personally believe that the African americans have almost twice the amount of teenage births from what I see daily in the town I live in

basically it's their strategy to drown out Anglo-Saxons in this country and win it back. "La Reconquista" Since they couldn't beat us on the battlefield, they're doing it through demographics.
It makes me wish we took the entire country of Mexico when we had the chance.
