He was a big time conservationist and the preservation of North American wildlife was a huge part of his presidency.

-He established the US Forest Service
-He created an unprecedented 42 million acres of national forests and 53 national wildlife refuges
-He did many other things to protect and preserve nature

Now, judging by the posts that *some people* on YA make, he was a leftist closet-communist who hated America. I mean, anyone who's an environmentalist or "tree hugging hippie" (as they're called) must be Liberal and America hating.

This brings me to ask: Was Theodore Roosevelt a leftist Commie?

I have seen dozens of posts/questions about how we need to protect the environment and preserve the wildlife. As I expected, they were bombarded with the usual childish rhetoric: "You're a Commie", "You're a stupid liberal", and other nonsense that has nothing to do with the question.

This is why I'm asking the question.

In case some of you didn't notice, I was being sarcastic with this question.

It's making fun of some conservatives assumptions/claims that environmentalists are Liberal or Communist.

^On top of that, the other rhetoric they push. Such as:

Vegan=Liberal
Anti-Animal Cruelty=Liberal
Environmentalist=Liberal

You get the picture...

LOL - I thought you were serious for a sec :-) I was about to reply with a huge rant until I saw your point :-)

Anyway - no, he wasn't a commie. He used to be a Rep. McCarthy would be so proud if he saw some of the Rep posts in here...

I will say that there's one thing I agree with avid hunters on - there's conservationists too...

No he was not a commie, I am Conservative and I also want to protect the environment, I for one am grateful for all the wildlife he has preserved and the forests he has protected, thank G-D he did, or we probably would not have the beautiful parks we have today like Yellowstone, and Yosemite, the big Red woods that are over a thousand years old. I don't think a real communists thinks about those things.

the, Roosevelt was one hell of a man, he was brave, patriotic also ambitious to become the president, some say he had the U,S,S, Maine sunk so he would have an excuse to attack Spain?? who really knows?? even if he did he was a true American, I also hear some of these idiots wh put McCarthy down as some kind of nut, the mistake McCarthy made was he underestimated the Jews, and they destroyed him in the press and in congress, he was on target trying to rid our country of Communism, and he did find and root out many, especially in Hollywood.people don't seem to realize the Jews are the ones who inaugurated the communist party they are to stupid to do any research, instead they listen to to our Zionist owned T,V, and news media, how can we expect America to last when we have so many people who are willing to be led around by their noses, ad believe what the new;s media tells them, don't they realize the news media is the first thing to gain control of when some one wants control of a country? also our monetary system , I would bet most people believe our federal gov, owns the Federal Reserve, when it has been publicized so many times that Jewish banking system owns it. and no I don't think The, Roosevelt was a commie,

Theodore Roosevelt was voted to the Presidency on the Republican ticket, but 4 years after leaving office, ran for President on the Progressive ticket (Bull Moose Party).

He was not a Communist; he was a patriotic American, who served this country well in the Spanish/American War.

The projected image of the educated liberal and the progressive as the enemy is a well-thought out project decades in the making. Media talking heads and corporate-state "news" constantly castigate liberals as being the problem. Any view, and anyone, left of the neo-conservative agenda is demonized as preventing the populace from moving forward. The meaning of life is pre-ordained and liberals are demons in opposition. Egos sharing common cause rally into action. They squash dissent and orchestrating media events by screening out any hint of opposition. This regime's fascist elements know exactly what they are doing. With the takeover of most radio, television and newspapers by sympathetic corporations the co-optation of public opinion is complete. It exceeds Goebbels' success in shepherding his flock to orchestrated conclusions. "We the people" thus know who to blame for being stuck unable to move forward. We do not see our president and his fascist leaning team as being responsible for any problem. The liberal is. The progressive is. The intellectual is. The environmentalist is. The anti-war activist is. The pro-choice people are. The atheist is. The socialist is. The communist is. The terrorist is. Take your pick. Anyone other than the regime is to blame.

You can like the environment and be a die-hard right wing too you know. I would love to work for the department of the Interior but that doesn't make me a commie. I fought them in 'Nam and they put a bullet in my leg. And now that i love the environment that makes me a commie? I don't think so

No, but I bet Joseph McCarthy was.

Had to scapegoat some people so old Comrade McCarthy could give secrets to the USSR.
