the first 'Walkathon' I remember doing was 25 miles. They didn't do the '5k walk' or things like that. It was an all day event that went through several towns. We'd start inthe morning (7-ish?) and get done late afternoon. They're much shorter now.

and the prize for completing the 25 mile walk? Free admission to a dance. HA! I might have danced if I could get my shoes back on ..

Don't remember how short I got my time down to, but I used to walk three miles on the school track every morning. Me and the hubby have gone on nature walks before, and there's no telling how far we went. We started out one morning and walked the rail road track not far from our house in Austin, broke for lunch, and had to have his mom come pick us up not long before dark, lol. We made it past Leander.

Was on a little dirt road, nobody in sight, car overheating, no cell phone.
Had to walk 11 friggin miles to someones house and use the phone. I really don't know how long it took.
That was definitely a sh!tty day for me.
