Both are great talents. I think Mercury has the better pure voice, but I think I'd give the edge in songwriting to Bowie. Plus Bowie seems to be able to reinvent himself to fit with the "changes" in popular music (pun intended). Why pick one when you can enjoy both?

Bowie, because of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Plus all of the other great music he created.
Queen was kinda uneven for me, they had some great songs, but I give the edge to Bowie.

both ~ bowie for his interesting writing & mercury for the theatrics! mercury definatley had the voice, too.
