I'm never shocked by anything I see here. The last time I was surprised was when I read your best answer to Paul Grass's marijuana question.
I'm glad you're okay now and since my name is STONY, you can assume I agree with your position on that subject.

There are all kinds on people on Yahoo answers and some, just a few, follow some less than traveled paths on their answers. surely they are not like that and are just jerking peoples chains. I have been in public service for over 30 years and have never came across people bent or misdirected like that.
I didn't get a chance to read your questions about poor people, but I will answer in this manor. ALL people have a certain amount of control over their destiny. Some fight hard, work hard and make something of themselves, and others, sit on their backsides and expect the Government to take care of them. Look at New Orleans!!!! Many are still sitting there waiting on a handout while Mississippi Gulf coast has rebuilt and is moving on with their lives.
Welfare has its place as a stepping stone to a better life but is not a way of life. Too many times its easier to sit back and let big brother support you instead of working. Older people don't like being on the dole and no matter what the job is, would rather work for a living.
Don't let the 2% of the people get you down with their answers. People can be cruel and heartless. Life goes on and the poor people can and will get ahead if that is what they want. Those that have issues, can get help to get on their feet, but again, we have to pull ourselves up also, cant depend on someone else to keep picking us up.

The people who post strong political beliefs on this website are usually "American Extremists," whose already crazy opinions are inflated by the "blanket" of the internet, so they tell everyone their opinion and easily hid if they are wrong, and are not afraid of insulting others, and say things they would never say in real life.
People who spend time on here flaming others for political beliefs all day long are either:
A) Failures in life
B) Under 16 years old
C) Have slight or Severe mental issues.
I'm not saying everyone is like this, just the people, left or right, with extreme opinions.
I would define an extremist by: A person that refuses to believe the opposite political party is working for the greater good of America.
Although I disagree with republicans, I do see that they are just people that have different opinions than myself and want America to be as safe from terrorists as I do,
However, when people accuse one party of being terrorists or liars and crooks, (Ex: Why do Cons hate America?) That is when it gets dangerous.
I try not to be shocked by all the BS here.
Why I am on this website day after day I have no idea.

Can't say that I've had a most shocking moment, just a bunch of little ones because of the professed ignorance of many people who use YA as a podium to show their lack of Faith, Hope and Charity...and intelligence. Some of these people would rather chew off their tongues than to say one good thing about anything or anyone.
Yes, it is sad, but it does help to clarify what is basically wrong with this world right now - regardless of nationality, color, creed, money, or education, a person full of hate is dangerous, whether he is ramming airplanes into towers or just flaming someone on YA just because it gives him a jolt of pleasure to be cruel.

Earnest, I sent you my answer. I was stunned to see the true misery and anger many people inflict on themselves. We all have compassion for others.
What I saw from so many was a complete lack of any Gratitude for what most of us on this Forum obviously have.
And it does not have to do with money.
To be so miserable inside, and not one thought of how to make things better. More hate and blame.
There were also some Great Comeback stories and "Rising from Nothing" examples too. So let's not forget those.
The only one who can make someone miserable or hapy is themselves.
As Abe Lincoln said "People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be"
Thanks...

Someone called me an epithet for an African-American (apparently not understanding the concept of a silhouette)and then told me to have sex with myself, and then thought she would soft pedal it by telling me I was an "imbecile who didn't understand that the rest of the world ___ing hated Americans." Her response was followed by another telling me I was a moron for wanting the taxpayer to pay more taxes.
Neither person understood the question.
My question was whether the American public would pay more taxes for immigration enforcement and I was neither advocating the tax nor the enforcement of immigration. I was asking a question relating to the financing provisions of the then pending immigration policy, and had no opinion on it.
Some people spew meaness for no reason.

I don't think your story was about being poor at all. It was about being happy with what you have. There is a difference. Everyone always thinks they would be happier if they only made 10K more per year, but they neglect to realize that there is someone 10K behind them thinking the same thing.
I didn't read each reply carefully, but the ones I did seemed to be debating your definition of poor.

I shouldn't be shock after seeing the deniers of 9/11 here.
Oh well some people can't accept the reality and have to live in the fanasty land.

LOL My most shocking moment was when ill-trix picked my answer as best . . . I soon realized however, that it was an attempt to mock me.
I find that I am most flabbergasted by those who lay claim to being an American, yet ashamed because the world thinks badly of us.
As for anger, I do try to quell that, though I'm sure some shows through when I answer questions that have to do with 'soldier hate' and 'flag burning.'
You are one of the good guys, don't let 'em get you down!

Question is very romanticized. Not bad though, if only more people had the view that the poor were people too and not something you make work hard and not reward or treat as objects deserving of scorn.
