One of my neon tetras is very restless, swimming with head tilted downward, tail up. It is still energetic, still wants to eat and still wants to play with the others. Is this a swim bladder issue? I've taken it out of the tank and put it in a secluded space. Any ideas?

A head down pose in the water is typical of a swim bladder infection. He could be treated with antibiotics such as Furanace or Furan-2, but to be honest the chances of saving him at this point would be quite slim.

restlessness and swim bladder really aren't the same thing. how many tetras do you have? they should be kept in a group of at least six -- more is better.

i have never witnessed a tetra with swimbladder as far a i know. usually in larger fish they swim sidways not diagonally.
it might be constipated? i really don't know.

i don't think taking it out is the right thing -- they are very timid little guys and don't do well at all without friends.

i think it might be a swim bladder problem, theres not much you can really do about it, it will live a natural life. ive heard of some vets doing surgery on fish, but i don't think it's really a money smart thing to do on a neon.

Put it back in the tank. It will get really lonely and die of lonelyness if you leave it all alone.
