will it hurt my sand bed if i have to move some to put in some fake decorations in my saltwater fish tank?

also, will it hurt it if i wash them with hot tapp water before i put them in?, should i let them dry off first, or can i just put the decor in?

thanks

Washing the new decor is a good idea as it will remove any dirt or other materials that have collected on the decorations.

It will not hurt your sand bed for you to add the decor and dig around a bit. In fact, you should at least poke the sand all over with a small prod of some sort every few weeks to prevent the possible build up of toxic gases.

Def not hurt. you should always move you sand like your gravel in fresh water tanks. Pieces of food and waste will get caught under it all and it will help remove this waste to catch in the filter.

Washing befound hand is a great. It will remove any dust and outside stuff that doesnt' belong inside a tank.. you have the right ides. hot tap water no soap. you should be able to just put them straight in the tank after washing. if you want to be double sure. You can leave them in the sun for the day. which is also a good way to kill those nasties.
