Do you all think 2 Type B's (both easy-going) would make a better couple, or a type A & B combination would make a better one?

Personally, as a Type B, I feel I'd be much better off with another type B just becoz we have so much in common and can "get" each other. I have been dating a Type A, who is so ambitious and rushed, and although they say opposites attract, I feel, long-term wise, I am not feeling it, just coz we are so different! I always feel so rushed with him.

Thoughts?

I think it's irrelevant. There is no pure type A or tybe B anyway, and I think core values and the outlook of the world are a lot more important than personality traits.

However, I agree that it is a bit annoying if your everyday style is unmatched with your partner's. I usually get ready in a matter of 3 minutes, while all - ALL- the men I ever went out with take anywhere from too long to forever (15 minutes is too long, 20 minutes is forever on my scale) to get ready. I had to learn to be patient with that. I find myself some little tasks like organising inside of the car in the mean time.

If he is a good guy and you like him otherwise, try to move just a little faster. He'll appreciate the effort. Also, when the two of you are not rushing anywhere, bring it up with him that you feel rushed and what can he do to help you feel differently. In this process, you will also learn if he cares about your feelings, or only about his own ambitions.

I am a type A and have gone out with both types. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to either combination and there is no rule about who can or should go out. What matters is how important the advantageous aspects of the opposite type are for you vs. the negative ones. You can work out routines to reduce the friction your different styles and how happy you can be is only a function of how hard you are both willing to work to make this relationship succeed. Ask yourself why you are not with a type B right now and then consider why you asked this question to begin with, the answer is often inside yourself, you just need to look real hard. Good luck.

Hi Tocca,

Two type B's would make a better couple. Regardless of what anyone wants to say, opposites do not attract and therefore a type A and B combination would not make a better one, all things being equal.

Chances are, a couple is going to be different in terms of personality, attraction, etc. The difference should not be very significant.
