Star Island and the rest of them are fine. They are in the bay and somewhat sheltered. Be that as it may, Miami Dade county has not experienced a direct hit since Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
As for the rest of the Caribbean, if those are the islands you are referring to those have been brushed such as Cayman which had 10 deaths in 2005 and Jamaica with its brushes in 2005 which resulted in over 40 deaths. Last year's hurricane season was extremely mild and this season just got underway, so one will never know.

It is just the beginning of the hurricane season no hurricanes as yet. the last one that devastated the Caribbean was hurricane Ivan in 2005.
