As an Independant,I wish the United States would win and democracy would take root in Iraq. But the reality of the situation there doesn't look that good. The United States can not keep a military force there forever. The Iraqis will be there forever. All they have is their homeland and they will fight for it against any invader. The only way I can see the United States winning is to tell the different groups" Help us defeat Al Queda and we will be able to start scaling down our force in Iraq. This would help give the U.S. enough time to build up the Iraqi Govt. to take care of itself.

Seriously, how would we define the major points of "Winning"?

Do I wish all the different sides would quit killing each other and figure out how to have a peaceful productive society? YES

I think this Iraq issue is going to be as tough and last as long as the US slavery problems and its aftermath. that took from about 1750 to some say current times, but say 1975 to get round numbers. 225 years.

so why are we ruining our country over another country's problems, when they would rather fight than get along and be productive. It will take generations to have their bad memories fade, like the Hatfield's and McCoys.

Don't you moron Cons get it ? There IS NO "WINNING" IN IRAQ. STOP EQUATING IT TO A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME.

Those people will be fighting with each other until the end of time. The ol Stars n' STripes cannot change that...no matter how much money, how many troops or however many weapons are tossed at the situation.

Enough with the damn playground mentality.

We should have let the military run the show from the beginning, that is what they are paid to do. The left has now experience in the ways of warfare, they are only good at things like raising taxes and spending our money like there is no tomorrow.

A win in a war is an official surrender of the opposing forces.
Do you think an actual surrender is possible in Iraq? I don't.

We won the war; lost the peace. Now, we need to do just what Bush said he would. Hand Iraq over to the Iraqis and get the hell out of there.

It's over, we didn't accomplish our mission and Iraq is a hell-hole of a mess that we can't fix only screw up more and drag the rest of the region into the conflict. That is reality, accept it or not, there is no winning.

The USA has been high jacked by a Imperialistic agenda that benefits the designers of this quagmire.
No I do not hope they win, I hope the architects of this god damn mess are jailed , the sooner the better!

Didn't we win back in 2003? "Mission Accomplished"? "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended"?

I hope we win in Iraq.

I also hope that I receive a million dollars in the mail.

No chance of either thing happening though.
