My son is three years old and I want to get him into acting, but I am not rich and I dont know how to go about getting him started. I have tried to find a free agent or something to get me started but I have failed. Can someone help me??

It's true that you're more likely to get him work as a twin at this point, however you can try modeling first and see how that goes. And you do not have to wait until he's 16. There's not as much competition out there for the boys as there is for the girls especially if he's disciplined and he's good. It would not hurt for you to send his picture to a few agents and see if it takes you anywhere. He may be just right for a few projects. I've seen quite a few projects where they cast kids who simply look similar and were not twins. Just take a cute snapshot of your son, make a few copies and send it out. What could it hurt? Just always be conscious of how your son is respoding to the atmosphere of 'the business' ;-)

Go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your sons photo, resume (if he has one), and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Good luck!

Well, there is no such thing as a "free agent" however, an agent shouldn't cost you anything, up front, that is.

An agent's job is to get you (or your son in this case) work. They only get paid, when you get paid. If you don't get paid, they won't either. This fee is usually 5-15% of the salary.

Problem solved?

Also, I'd just like to stress, that while you won't have to spend money on the agent, you will have to spend time getting headshots, composites. Maybe training (though he's so young, you could put it off).

Also, is this what your son REALLY wants to be doing? I hope so.

Good luck on your son's career.

Move to Los Angles or New York City, if you are serious about getting him into acting.

If you are NOT in NYC, you may not be able to locate a free Talent Agent. You did not include in which USA city you live so someone can advise you on finding a free agent.

All agents are free. Anyone who asks you to pay them anything is a scam. Agents don't make money until you book a job, then they take 10% of what you are being paid. That's why it's hard to get an agent, they aren't going to sign you if you don't show a big chance of making money for them.

If your kid is not a twin, don't bother. Until he or she is 16 nobody will need them becuase it is too hard to get enough time on a set to shoot only one underaged child. Little known, but for true.

She has to get "discovered" to get in free, good luck though!
