lately, they're making another run, and I bet they hold off the Cards and Cubs.... they're actually a really good team

Their largest division lead was 8 games; they now stand at 7.5 games ahead. It would take a huge collapse for the Brewers to miss the postseason, considering the extremely mediocre competition. And for those naysayers who think this team won't escape the NLDS, you likely haven't watched this team play or noticed that they have a better record than the declining New York Mets. They have a dynamic infield (Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Braun), a good hitter catcher (Estrada), a CF who hit 35 HRs last year (Hall), a young stud RF and leadoff hitter in Corey Hart, and a nice platoon with Mench and Jenkins. The SP is the best in the division, including a phenom (Gallardo), a very nice bullpen (Villanueva, Turnbow, Wise), and the best closer in baseball (Cordero). Plus, Counsell and Graffanino are adequate bench players. The Brewers have a very good chance to win the NL Central and make a run at the NL Pennant this season.

hey....i mean the royals one year started 13-0 and finished 500 at best...for the brewers...to have the lead for a while is pretty damn good...and they have a lot of potential because they NL HR leader and 2nd place player are both ROOKIES on the brewers....prince fielder and jj hardy.....and both are priced at a moderate 400-450 k a piece.....
although there are more teams in the nl central....the competition isn't that great.....i don't think the brewers will go far but i'll be rooting for them (and my red sox).....everyone likes an underdog.....the brewers may make the playoffs in a few years...they also have decent pitching...they just need to move a few pieces around...

The Brewers are a pretty good team, but they are the best team by far in the NL Central, and with a 7.5 game lead, they will definetely win it. I don't see any other team making a run at them. In a couple years, the Brewers will have an amazing young infield with Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun, and they have Corey Hart.

You're forgetting something. The Brewers are the best team in the NL Central! Not the NL. They are basically nothing compared to other NL teams. The reason they have a good record is because they are better than any other team in the Central Division. And if they do make the playoffs, I'll be surprised if they even win a game in the NLDS.

They still have a 7.5-game lead in the division, that's an awful big margin to tank. They just had a bit of a swoon like many teams have during a season. There's still a long way from the top for anybody else in the division.

They are an above average team but not an elite team. They should have their ups and downs for the rest of the year and fight for a playoff spot. I would give them no better than a 50-50 chance at the playoffs, but your right, Prince is having a great year and it reminds me of the Ryan Howard year last year.

Yes, I've been saying all spring long that eventually they would fall back with the rest of the pack. They might make the playoffs but it will be a close race.
