can working out with weights affect your shot even if its 3 hours later? cuz i just went out to play and couldnt shoot at all. my arms felt weaker and kind of fatigued even though it was 3 hrs earlier i had finished working out. is this common? can this affect your jumpshot?

its not that my body has to get used to the adjustment, ive been lifting for a long time

It can affect your shot but you have to continue to shoot the rock about 50 times a day if you are lifting weights, so can keep your touch.

I have that same problem, but I learned if you let your arms rest for a couple a days you'll be OK. When I came back from my rest my shot was stronger and that was a good problem to have, so all I did was put some touch on it. So I really wouldn't recommend shooting right after lifting weights, it'll make you look like an ******. lol

If your a PG or SG and maybe a 3G/SF just stick to muscle stamina (((ex. lift 10LBS. 100 times insted of 200 LBS. 3 times))) that way you will put on muscle memory like your aim. But really lift for your legs cause nothing feels better than a rebound over taller dudes and a slam in D-Face!

If your a F/C or C lift for 30 min. then add muscle to your legs, then hit the bench press. What helped me alot being a SF/3G was playing with a BigBall Basketball (they have those) and a medicane ball for jumping up and down as if i was going up for a rebound. That helped alot ,, i'm not a Kobe or a Dwight Howard but i have improve alot in my game

PS Running 3 miles aday helps alot also.

Yes it will affect your shot.

If you are going to lift weights you should always do it after you play basketball and not before.

But 3hrs should be good recovery time even if you lift before shooting. Your body just has to get used of it.

Usually, I would expect that one would work out after playing, not before. Therefore, your shot would not be nearly as affected as playing right after working out...

For a while, I would work out and then go play. But I wasn't exactly trying to emulate Reggie Miller from 3pt land, either. After a few sets of shoulder work, launching a basketball often had comic results, not weakness and fatigue...

Try working out after the game, not before. It will work a lot better.

It can but it is a good thing. I Thought it was bad when I was younger. But it will help you get muscle memory and improve your shot. Lifting before shooting is a good thing. Dont listen to lazy bums who dont want to lift and say it affects your shot. KEEP LIFTING

well if you weight lift in the morning, and play basketball in the afternoon, then you should be okay.(works for me) i am not really sure of a good balance either
