In central Kansas they aren't that bad. Which REALLY surprises me, considering they are usually terrible this time of the year.
The only place it's bad is at the county lake. Which happens to be where I do a LOT of fishing. I always bring bug repellent though!

I wouldn't doubt that for a nanosecond. Tell you what eat something they hate: onions and garlic, stay away from the sugary stuff and they won't come near you, unless they're really strange Mosquitoes.
