Eric Dolphy was one of the greatest wind players ever. I've
always been partial to his flute rendition of You Don't Know
What Love Is, as well as his work with Mingus and Trane. Everybody loved that cat. It's really sad that he died because
of someone's stupid stereotypical mindset. He was a beautiful dude just like Clifford Brown.

His work as a sideman is also excellent. The solos on Oliver Nelson's "Blues and the Abstract Truth" add a fantastical element to an otherwise very cool-sounding record.

Eric Dolphy is my favorite musician. my favorite song by him is Spring is here on his Caribe album. this is a great album. Eric, plays with control here, at times you can feel he wants to just spread out, but he stays with the latin band. also, iron man, is a nice song, he plays with the fiercy and coolness that made him grand.

Out to Lunch is real good, also Outward Bound. The Live at the Five Spot albums are excellent as well.

Other than a song here and a song there backing John Coltrane, no. But I would like to get some of his work. I'm just now getting into, or at least getting open to, "free" and "avant garde" jazz.

although he played more than 1 instrument, i loved his Bass Clarinet playing. So sad he died so young. I believe the heir-apparent for jazz bass clarinet is Bennie Maupin. R.I.P mr. Dolphy
