I have a 2000 Dodge Durango and the air conditioning was not blowing as cold as it used to so we tried to recharge it using a frion that we bought at the auto parts store. We put the can in and the pressure read normal. Then the car started jerking when we pushed the gas and the air started coming out even hotter than before so we released some pressure and then it was too low so we added another can. Now it is just warm air and the car jerks when the ac is on.....what do I do?

You are probably overcharged,if you don't know what to look for diagnosing a refrigerant system, you will do more harm than good.R134A will over charge a system a lot easier than R12 will. You have to use gauges to do it correctly. You say pressure read normal, with these cheap refill kits you don't know what you are seeing.Afull set of gauges will diagnose your system. You could have a condenser restriction (including the fan not working),a clogged evaporator,a clogged orfice screen,a bad compressor, moisture in the system etc.........

Thats what happens when you try to diagnois and fix a problem on a system you know nothing about. You probably made a minor problem worse and more costly. The company that makes and sells those recharge kits also sells a/c compressors and a/c system parts. Wonder why??

You can take the truck in and get if fixed by a person licensed to do the work. Instead of just adding the freon, you need to find the problem so you don't go through this again next year. good luck

Could be your AC Compressor, if it went bad you wouldn't be getting any cold air at all, and most likely would be cycling the hot air from your cabin back in.

RECHARGING IT BY YOURSELF AND THE PRESSURES READ NORMAL BUT YOU DID NOT TELL US WHAT THE PRESSUES READ.

YOU HAVE OVER-CHARGED THE SYSTEM.

HAVE A TRUSTED INDEPENDENT A/C REPAIR SHOP FIRST CHECK IF YOU EVEN HAVE FREON IN THE SYSTEM AND ONCE THAT IS DETERMINED THEY CAN PERFORM A COMPLETE A/C SYSTEM LEAK CHECK.

Go to the dealership where you got the truck from and get the problems diagnosed.
