I'm almost 36 weeks pregnant and I've gained somewhere around 13-18 lbs. throughout my pregnancy. At certain times, I've actually lost weight, gained a little back, and now I've just plateaued...

The nurse seems a little concerned, but my doctor just smiles and says I won't have to worry about trying to lose weight.

Is it normal to have your weight fluctuate like this? I'm carrying very small, but all my tests have come back normal and there's nothing to cause alarm that I'm aware of.

Am I just being paranoid or should I be concerned?

(And yes, I'm eating well... I'll admit I'm not always hungry, but I make sure I eat enough.)

Everyone is so different w/ their pregnancies. I'm sure everything is okay with you. Its hard not to be paranoid especially with the nurse acting concerned, but your doctors knows best and all your tests are normal, Enjoy or try to enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy, good luck w/ delivery!!!

I am 31 weeks along and at 28 weeks i wieghed in at gaining 14 pounds. I lost 5 and now i only have gained 9 but i got sick and lost about another pound. Now almost 3 weeks later i am still at 8 pounds weight gain. I am carrying small also. I think it's pretty normal, my doctor has no concern. He told me as long as i gained weight more than 7 pounds by now then i am fine. Cuz about 3 or 4 is the fluid and 3-4 should be the baby. So I think your fine :) You gained probably just the right amount for the baby. And my doc said the same thing... It's gonna be alot easier to lose the baby weight n fit back into my skinny jeans :)
Good Luck!!!

What does the nurse know? Nothing. With my first I gained like 45 lbs... but I am pregnant with my second and have only gained 6 so far, and I am 1 week shy of being half way thru my pregnancy... go by what the dr. says... your almost due anyways, and at the end of the pregnancy you typically lose a few lbs anyways... Just eat healthy, and eat often.

If your doctor says everything is ok then don't worry. I only gained 22lbs with my last baby and lost weight the last few weeks. Every woman and every pregnancy is different.... just consider it a blessing!

hunny i gaine 70# (i also had twins). in the beginning i lost weight cuz i couldnt eat and had to be but on medications to combat the nausea. after i was on meds i gained 24 pounds in 10 days. i lost ALL my baby weight and went back to normal very quickly (still had the HUGE boobs though). dont worry so much about the numbers, if your tests are ok and the dr is ok YOU are ok. trust in yourself and dont worry what others think.

If the baby seems healthy and the doc's not concerned, then just chalk it up to being one of the lucky ladies who don't end up overweight after pregnancy. Just remember that if you plan on breast feeding that it takes more calories to make milk than it does to be pregnant. You may have to up your food intake after you give birth.

I only gained 9 pounds with my son, he weighed almost that. I would gain here and loose there. My doctor told me that my baby was gaining and I was just loosing. If your doctor is not saying anything and you are eating right, you both are fine.
