Greatest hits titles are the exact same game as the regular version of the game. If you're asking should you buy the same game as a "greatest hits" or regular, then I would say it depends. If one is cheaper than the other, definitely get that version. If it's the same price, I would say get the greatest hits version. It will have been released later than the original and used or new, it should be a superior copy.

BTW, once a game becomes a "greatest hits" title, most retailers drop the price of any remaining original copies they have to match the new $20 price.

The Greatest Hits games are 19.99, while the normal games are usually 39.99 to 49.99 when it first went on sale. By the time a game becomes a greatest hit, the original game isn't made anymore, so sometimes a greatest hit is your only chance to get the game if you missed it the first time.

For some collectors, they prefer the normal edition over the greatest hits edition. It might simply be that the normal game has the better artwork, ie, no Greatest Hits banner.

For the majority of the games, there's really no difference between the normal game and the Greatest Hits games.

Greatest Hits games just mean that the game just sold a lot just making it a "greatest hit" they're the same game but the ones with the greatest hit on it were released a while after the ones without greatest hit on it.

In order for a game to be greatest hits it has to have sold over 200,000 copies and been out for at least 4 months. So basically the only difference is price. greatest hits are $20 and less. Where as a new game will be $50.

FYI just because a game is in greatest hits don't always mean it is a great game. It just means it been out for over 4 months. Some games take years to sale 200,000 copies and get into greatest hits.

Plus you will never see a sports game in greatest hits. They are excluded.

Greatest hits: Sold a lot of copies and has been out for a while so it is now cheeper then regular games.Games in the Greatest hits are older games that have been out for a LONG long time.

Regular games:Games that are released for the ps2 and is sold for the standard price.Could be new or old.

There is your difference!

If a game has Greatest Hits on it, then it sold well. Sony decided to re-release specific games that sold well with the Greatest Hits tag on them at a reduced price. It's no different than the original release game.

Greatest hit version: everyone likes this game and is very popular and sold a lot so there is a chance you might like it too
non-greatest hit: well it just came out or is not as popular.
