use a crab pot baited with chicken, turtles check in, but they don't check out, also try a trot line, that's a nylon rope with a hook every 2 feet, bait with chicken, or small fish heads, tie one end of the rope at one side of the pond, and the other end as far as you can reach it, and tie a weight to the center of the rope, like 50 pounds, (a boat helps), the turtles get stuck on the hooks, (use #4 baitholder hooks, and steel leaders) and can't come up for air, check it daily to release catfish, and keep it running till no more turtles, for baby snappers, a crayfish trap, exactly like a minnow trap (crab pot principle) once again bait with chicken, and check daily. keep doing it till you aren't catching anything, and go river fishing for BIG cats, a couple of those will help keep a reinfestation from occuring

Be careful, They are endangered in some states and you'll get in quite a bit of trouble if you harm them. Look turtles are wonderful creatures and do no harm unless they are messed with. Read about them so you can enjoy the good they do and you'll learn they have a place in your pond. They really are cool and eat the dead so your pond stays clean. If we didn't have natural scavengers the world would be mighty stinky wouldn't it.

Get with your redneck uncle (or acquaintance if there are no rednecks in your family). They will be most happy to help you out and will probably make turtle soup out of it when they catch it.
They will also enjoy sitting by the pond, drinking beer waiting for the turtle to surface. Then, BANG! No more turtle.
P.S. they won't care if its legal or not. LOL!!!!!

Check with your local Fish and Wildlife office. In some areas they are protected. Why do you want to get rid of them?
Releasing any wild animals in other areas is a good way to spread disease and wipe out populations.
So there are consequences for killing or relocating them without permission.

Well do something like what you would do if it was a street cat, you dont want to hurt a cat because it just wants a home :( but you want it the **** out.
I use this method when street cats are taking my cats food, it goes something like this :
Get a turtle trap our something, and once you got it in the trap drive it to a rich neighborhood and throw it on someones lawn.

There are commercially made turtle traps that can be used. They are usually baited with hamburger. Or, if local regulations permit, they can be shot when they come up for air.
