I sure do how dare he veto this part of legislation he is throwing politics where it shouldn't belong. I have a heart condition and there is hope if stem cell research goes through , but now those hopes are lost and I now need to wait until a democratic takes office as president. Who Thinks Bush went way overboard to veto this?????

If he cared as much about people who have already been born as he does a mass of cells, we would not have our troops dying daily in his illegal and immoral war in Iraq.

I agree with it. Remember this bill is about 'federal funding' of 'embryonic' stem cell research. It is not a bill that tries to make it illegal and he still supports research on adult stem cells and cord stem cells and embryonic cells from embryos they already have and planned to destroy.

Its simply a bill that is trying to get taxpayer money to pay for research on new yet to be created embryros.
Since from what I have read, although I havent read up on much in the last 6 mo or so I will admit, more promise has been shown in cord cell and adult cell research.

Bush permit's his very own ideals effect him to show of being irrational. The bill develop into provided very soundly and surpassed with the help of a competent margin (sixty 3-37 in a Republican controlled Senate). basically when you consider which you do no longer in my view have faith in something, does no longer supply you the perfect to tension those ideals into regulations. The bill develop into constitutional and there develop into no clarification for veto.

I don't disagree with anyone trying to save the life of
any unborn child.....Abortionist and mothers selling their
unborn children to abortion clinics are the worst slime
in our world.......but I don't have a problem with umbilical
cord blood stem cell research....as long as the baby and
the mother are safe.....but murder is murder no matter the
age and I deplore that! President Bush is a Real Hero
for the Unborn Child and His Devine Reward will be
Great for Christ promised "....woe to anyone bringing harm
to one of the little ones "! And to get into the Kindom of
Heaven,".. a person must be as humble as a little child...."!

If you don't believe that...one day we shall all see the TRUTH,
....now won't we?

Lawrence, I agree with Bush and support Stem Cell Research.
Some people have a deep belief that the destruction of an embryo is the slaughter of a baby. While I don't share that view, I certainly respect it.
Bush does not try to outlaw Stem Cell research, he simply will not allow the government to wrench money for baby murdering from the hands of those who find it morally reprehensible.
Nearly all my investment is in stem cell research. I TRULY support stem cell research..as opposed to those who claim to support it, but actually only support the compulsion of others to pay for it.

I do. They were throwing these cells down the drain for 20 years before this, but now that they want to use them for research there is a big outcry. It isn't about stem cells - its about ABORTION.

However, some good news for you - adult mouse stem cells have been turned into embryonic mouse stem cells, and monkey cells have just been cloned. This means that it might be possible to do the same with human cells, so the ethical argument against it disappears because no "babies" die.

I agree with it only because I don't want to see government funding of stem cell research. Theres already milllions of private research going on. This only gives money to the politicians buddies.
There was no federal money for aspirin, penicillin, the salk vaccine and many other things.

He's only vetoing federal funding on embryonic stem cell research, not ALL stem cell research. There is no prohibition against private or state research into embryonic stem cells.

In fact, a lot of breakthrus have been coming from adult stem cells or umbilical cord stem cells. Embryonic stem cells? Not so much.

If this ideological president gets an illness that has a cure because of embryonic stem cell research, then the cure shouldn't be offered to him. Let him die as a consequence for his utter stupidity.

It was the right thing to do. He vetoed federal funding, not the research.

I also suffer from heart disease. I am on disability because of heart disease. I would rather die than have one child die in my place. We have to draw a line and stand on it. Even if it costs our lives in the process.
We must ask ourselves at what moment in time does a person get their right to live. How old to you have to be to have our God given rights. Only answer could be at conception. No other answer makes sense.
