I think they should make it wood only. Scores in college ball look like football games. Pitchers are in danger from hits off metal and these kids need to get ready for pro ball.

The problem is, if NCAA went to wooden bats, then it would take the cut fastball out of the majors. Mariano Rivera wouldn't be himself if college used wooden bats. You can't jam an aluminum bat, you can hit a homerun off a Rivera cut fastball with aluminum, but with wood it would shatter the bat. That's one of the big reasons wood has never been brought into college.

I don't like aluminum bats but can understand the cost involved. A team could easily go through 100 wooden bats in a season.
My question is could the NCAA get inexpensive wooden bats if they bought at a large group rate and agreed to a limited number of sizes and styles.
I would rather see the money go towards scholarships.

no b/c there have been many incidents of athletes dying from getting hit by a line drive in the heart by an aluminum bat. these bats hit the ball faster and harder and are more dangerous. also, they should get used to wooden bats for the majors.

No they are dangerous the ball comes off of aluminum bats too fast, and puts the pitcher at risk. That and the sound "ping" is not a baseball sound.

No, I think wood bats should be used starting in high school on up. Kids are getting bigger, and metal bats are getting more advanced. People(pitchers, third basemen) are going to get hurt.
