Pollution will end the earth.
Atmosphere, Water, & Soil will all be contaminated.
This will manifest as toxins building up in our bodies.
The first sign will be the inability to spell & write properly.
This will be followed by the failure to do arithmetic.

nuclear war is my first guess followed by an asteroid. But i think the asteroid possibility is highly improbable.
