No! When being fitted for a bra you should wear the best fitting bra that you currently own. I have been fitted for a bra on two different occasions at two different places and didn't have to take off my bra either time.

I worked at Victoria's Secret briefly and at no point were we required to ask anyone to remove their bra. Of course, different companies, but for a bra fitting all that needs to be done is the measurements across the bust line and slightly before the rib cage(that center part underneath your chest). you don't have to even remove your shirt if you don't want to, although the fabric may throw the measurements off(but only by a little).
I'm not sure why she did that, but a good associate would never make a customer do anything that made them feel uncomfortable!
What I suggest is you go to the closest Victoria's Secret and ask a sales associate for a proper bra fitting and they should be happy to help!

I had a bra fitting at Victoria Secret and I didn't take my bra off and she left the room when I tried on a bra and asked if I wanted her to look at it. I think you should call another Macy's and ask them what their policy is for bra fitting, if it is not what happened to you then tell the mananger of the store you went to. This lady doesn't have the right to abuse the trust women are putting in her to help them with a personal issue. I'm sorry that happened to you.

I personally feel you get a better fit if you measure over skin.
There ARE professional bra fitters: I have seen several since my mastectomy, and I know they have them at Nordstrom.
The ladies who measure you at Victoria's Secret are not pros; they are saleswomen who use a tape measure with no special training.
A professional bra fitter should have measured:
around your chest under breasts,
around fullest part of breasts,
and the circumference - from side to side of each breast.
Different styles/cuts of bras do fit differently, which is why she brought several.
Most of these ladies have done this a long time - they are used to staring at breasts and think nothing of it.
P.S. - if she did more than this, speak to a manager and ask what their policy is.

i think that is a little weird when ever i went to be fitted for a bra this lady took me into an open space near the dressing rooms along with a few older ladies also there for a fitting. from there she measured and i got to leave my shirt one. so to answer yr question yes i think that is strange and a little perverted.

I think lovelyday is mis-informed. I doubt Macy's has professional bra fitters, if there even is such a thing. If the other two ladies were allowed to keep their bras on, then I think you should discuss your feelings with the manager.

stop trippin, of course she has to see your breasts to help fit you, she's a professional and it's no different than when you see a doctor. If youre uncomfortable being topless in front of her. tell her and maybe she can avert her eyes from your breasts but she has to see how the bra fits your breasts.

When I got measured, I was still wearing my shirt. That is not normal at all. I would have left when she asked me to do that. I would report her.
