Do you also go screaming from door to door at Christmas time, demanding people give you the presents you deserve? Your grade is your grade; whether a teacher is kind enough to give you an extra point you DID NOT EARN is up to that teacher's discretion. I would bet that your teacher didn't feel inclined to do so for you becuase your attitude sucks. Furthermore, your teacher gave you extra credit - another privilege to which you are not ENTITLED. And if your grade is only an 89% with extra credit, shouldn't you be grateful??

I was a high school teacher for almost a decade so this comes from experience. It sounds like to me you should be thanking your biology teacher for allowing you the opportunity to do extra credit and receive an 89%. You need to take a look at your study skills and ask for advice from the teacher on better ways of studying for his tests. Most teachers will assist students in study techniques if that student is dedicated and shows a true concern for learning. You need not get pissed, because you "got" what you EARNED.

I often have to make those close calls. I set the scale on day one, and let my students know you need a ninety for that A.
Its hard to hear, but you got a 89 with doing the extra credit. An A signifies exceptional work, I'm sure there are students who earned it without the need for extra credit.
A "B" signifies above average work, so you deserve congratulations, I would talk to your next teacher early in the semester and ask how you can improve your b avg to an "a"
best of luck..

It is not up to a teacher to "give" you anything. Apparently, when all of your grades are avereraged together, an 89 is what you EARNED. No need to be pissed at the teacher because YOU fell short!

If you feel that your grade is incorrect, ask the teacher to give you a list of all your grades, how the grades are all weighted and do the average. You may find that different things have different weights, for instance homework is 20%, tests 20% and quizzes are 10%. Ask the teacher, politely to refigure your grade. Most teachers do not want students to do poorly, it makes them look better if all students do well!

What's your complaint? An 89 is a B. Get over it.

Maybe the teacher was using a literacy across the curriculum approach and graded you down for your weak English skills.

Talk to him! Be polite, but assertive. If they are nice at all they will give you the extra point. I don't blame you for being pissed. Offer to do some extra-extra-credit. Good luck!!
If all else fails go explain to the principal. Or better yet, have your parent do it!
