I had a little fender bender and everything seems all right, but when I start my car it sounds like a fan or belt is making a squealing noise. Did I knock something loose or something? Also, should I do any follow up since I had the fender bender on my car's maintainence?

PROBABLY JUST THE BELT BUT GET IT TIGHTEN UP OR REPLACED ASAP.

You need to take your car in for routine maintenance. You probably need a new belt. Belts have to be replaced regularly. Take it to a mechanic. It's probably just coincidence that it happened after your fender bender. Most fender-benders don't effect the engine of the car.

It all depends on how bad the "little" fender bender was. It's possible that your belt is just worn and loosened on its own and it's time to change it. Please provide specifics like the last time you had the belts changed on the car, the make and model, and how bad the accident really was. Did your accident put a dent in the car? How fast were you driving when you bent your fender? etc....

Is the noise when you start it up, or when you drive it? Sometimes the insides of the fenders can rub against the wheels if they get messed up.... (doesn't sound like the problem in your case, but though I would suggest it anyway)

I can't think of what type of maintenance you would need to do since the accident, but since you are concerned with the noise, you might as well just take it in and have a shop look it over for the noise, and see what else you might need as far as maintenance.

i would go and get it looked at because you never know what else might be wrong too.

fender benders can mess up your car alot just from the entire car jolts and it may have knocked many more things loose.

get a full check up. for your saftey.

either your fan belt is loose which is simple to fix..just take it to a garage and they should tighten it up cheap. If it has been raining a lot sometimes they do that when they throw off moisture.

Take the car in to a shop and have them check it out. You may be doing more damage driving it. Don't mess up anything else, check it out.
